The "Create an Account" link on the Constituent Login Page may be a good feature from some Neon clients, but only creates problems for us. Please give those of us who don't want people to create a new account the ability to hide that link. We can already hide the social media login options, so why not this?
We are a membership organization and use Neon primarily to manage our memberships and send automated renewal emails. A big issue for us is that some members create a new account when they are renewing -- either because they can't remember which email address or login name is in their account or they are confused or impatient. This sets up a situation in which they will continue to receive every renewal notice in the series.
After we merge duplicate accounts, Neon doesn't recognize that the future membership is really a renewal of the current membership. And no matter how often we say DO NOT CREATE A NEW ACCOUNT in our system emails, people do it. Then they are upset that they continue to receive automated renewal emails for their current membership when they "know" they have renewed. Telling them why the system logic can't be shut off doesn't help.
We have even tried changing the status of the "future" membership from JOIN to RENEW when merging the duplicate accounts, but that doesn't stop the system emails from flowing either.
If the Scheduler logic could be modified to recognize that any other future membership in an account should be considered a renewal, that would also be a good solution for us. But if that can't happen, then preventing members from creating a new account is the only fool-proof way to solve our problem.
