NeonCRM has several fields that allow you to define salutations and greetings for hard copy mailings and emails.
The Salutation field is available in the Basic Information section of all NeonCRM accounts. Make changes by clicking Edit Account.
Salutation is intended to be used as the greeting in a letter or email, such as "Dear [Salutation],". Unlike some systems, NeonCRM does not have separate fields for Formal vs. Informal Salutation. It is up to you how you would like to populate this field. You may populate it with a more formal salutation, such as "Mr. Ortiz," for certain constituents; and a more informal salutation, such as "Daniel," for others.
Additionally, the Salutation field will auto-populate with Prefix + Last Name when the fields for Prefix, First Name, & Last Name are included on your front end forms.
The Preferred Name field is available in the Basic Information section of all NeonCRM accounts. Make changes by clicking Edit Account.
Preferred Name is the way that a person would like to be addressed. Typically, this will be the same as the First Name field (which NeonCRM defaults to auto filling this field with) but can be different if the person has a nickname. This field can also be used as a greeting for a letter or email.
Households are a way of keeping track of the relationships amongst families and those who live together. When you create a household, you are able to track both a Household Name and Household Salutation. Both of these fields can be edited by clicking Edit Household in the Household Contacts section of the primary household contact's account.
Household Name is what you would use for the outside of an envelope for mailing. Household Salutation is what you would refer to people when you are mailing to them and want to greet the household with everyone who should be addressed in your introduction.
When you plan to do an external letter, you can click Edit Columns to include the salutation information that you need.
